Ravenna Michalsen

Dignity Music - Founder

Ravenna Michalsen is a professional cellist who is passionate about environmental protection causes. After studying cello through college, she battled a debilitating auto-immune shutdown that prevented her from playing for 8 years, during which time Ravenna composed and recorded three albums of songs inspired by Buddhism.

After two graduate degrees, she returned to the instrument and slowly worked her way back to playing.

Ravenna performs with the Greater Bridgeport Symphony, Waterbury Symphony, Ridgefield Symphony and Wallingford Symphony. She teaches privately and is on the cello, chamber music and music theory faculty at Neighborhood Music School in downtown New Haven. Please be in touch!
